Namber Privacy Policy

Last updated: 26 August 2026

Namber is a local utility that helps people in The Gambia review and update eligible mobile numbers during the national move from seven digits to nine digits.

1. Who operates Namber

Data Sling Incorporated, trading as Datasling, provides Namber. In this policy, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to Data Sling Incorporated. Questions can be sent to info@datasling.gm.

2. Contacts stay on your device

Namber processes Contacts information directly on your device. It does not upload, transmit, sell, rent, share, synchronise or store your contact names or telephone numbers on Namber or Datasling servers.

Namber has no account registration, advertising, analytics, tracking, social graph, cloud contact backup or messaging feature. It does not send SMS messages, place calls or contact anyone in your address book.

3. Why Contacts permission is requested

Contacts access is a core function of Namber. With your permission, the app reads only the contact names and telephone-number fields needed to identify numbers that may be affected by The Gambia’s numbering transition. It uses the rules displayed in the app to prepare a review for you.

Write access is used only after you select the numbers to change, review the proposed changes and confirm the final device prompt. Namber updates only the confirmed telephone-number field. It does not change names, photos, email addresses, labels, notes, addresses or other contact information.

4. Your choices and safeguards

  • Namber does not change Contacts when it launches, after permission is granted or after a scan.
  • You can select individual eligible numbers, deselect them, or deliberately choose to update all eligible numbers.
  • You always see a review and must provide a final confirmation before any write occurs.
  • Numbers that are foreign, unknown, unsupported, already nine digits, or Gamcel numbers currently excluded from the transition are not changed.
  • Before a write, Namber checks the current phone-number record again. If it changed after the scan or cannot be edited, Namber skips it and explains the result.

5. Permission controls

You may decline Contacts access and can revoke or change it at any time in your device settings. On iPhone, if you grant limited Contacts access, Namber works only with the Contacts you have allowed. On Android, the app cannot scan or update Contacts unless you grant the relevant Contacts permissions.

6. Data retention and security

Namber keeps only the minimum scan and selection state needed while you are using the app. It does not create a permanent shadow copy of your Contacts database. The actual Contacts remain managed by your device and the account provider you use for Contacts synchronisation.

7. Children’s privacy

Namber is not designed to collect personal information from children. Because contact data remains on the device and is not transmitted to us, we do not receive a child’s Contacts data through the app.

8. Changes to this policy

If Namber’s local-only data practices materially change, we will update this page and its effective date before that changed version is released.
